When statins first came on the market, physicians who read the trial summaries, but not the indexes and not the criticisms, were absolutely wild about them. Many started taking them for the alleged longevity benefits. That went on for a few years. Then the harms started to surface... Physicians with bloated egos and/or compromised integrity refused and still refuse to believe the downsides. They continue to prescribe and the harms to patients continue to crop up. I think they're incorrigible.
